Opposition parties bank on ‘paadayatra’ to counter TRS

  • Going  into public is the mantra
  • Telangana state to witness political heat waves in rainy season
  • For which party it will fetch?

Hyderabad:  When political leaders are desperate to bring their party into limelight or to power, the only weapon left for them is “paadayatra’. We have seen late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, who first started walkathon in the year 2003 which fetched him the CM’s chair and Congress was able to remain in power for more than 10 years. After that TDP Supremo Chandrababu Naidu followed the same footsteps and became Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh post bifurcation. Jagan Mohan Reddy, now CM of AP State also made a mammoth paadayatra walking  record breaking length.

Opposition parties in Telangana are now planning the same to counter the strong TRS party which is not giving any space for them for the  past seven years. To start with TBJP President Bandi Sanjay has  a plan to launch a  paadayatra from July last week. Party leaders are planning a route map that will end at Huzurabad constituency before bypoll to boost party’s chances in the fight. Before that, party is focussing to strengthen party from ground level by appointing new convenors, for Assembly and Parliament segments.

Y.S. Sharmila, of YSRTP, who will launch the party officially on July 8 has  a plan to cover total 33 districts through paadayatra. She knows very well that only it can make the party strong in a short span of one year. She did it earlier from Telangana to Andhra and got mileage for her speeches. She is keen on remaining with the people for more than a year. One has to see how people of Telangana would receive her as she is doing it now after State bifurcation.

Revanth Reddy, new TPCC chief, also has a  plan to start yatra in coming days. He doesn’t want to lose any opportunity to bring Congress to power. His ‘Rythu Bharosa Yatra’ fetched him a good response and party sources say it is due to that paadayatra,  the Congress High Command had appointed him as TPCC president. He has to pacify seniors, dissidents and bring fresh blood into the party which is a difficult task. As per party sources, Revanth will reshuffle convenors, district presidents, before his action plan starts.

Telangana state will heat up in July month with political debates and arguments. On July 7th, Revanth Reddy will take charge as TPCC President.  Y.S. Sharmila will launch her party YSRTP on July 8th, TBJP President will start paadayatra in July last week. After Revanth Reddy was given in charge of TPCC, there is josh in the party which was not seen before. Though there are voices of few against him, the option for the party was only Revanth who can attract masses and articulate  stories against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Now the political game is on in Telangana, say pollsters.
