Hyderabad: Narasapuram MP Raghuram Kirshnam Raju received his birthday gift in a style from AP police. He was arrested by AP CID today at his residence in Hyderabad and booked under Section 124 IPC-A which is a non-bailable case. When the MP’s personal security and relatives asked about the reason for the arrest, CID officials told them to come to CID office in Vijayawada for further details. But sources say that he was taken into custody for making remarks which could tarnish the image of the State government.

When CID officials reached MP’s house, they were initially stopped by the CRPF police who said they would agree to take him into custody if they had the permission of their superiors. Meanwhile, MP was reportedly forcibly taken away by CID police and now MP along with police officials were on the way to Vijayawada. The arrest of MP exactly on his birthday became talk in political circles across AP.

MP Ragurama’s son, Bharat, condemned the arrest of his father. Bharat said that his father is a heart patient and nearly 30 policemen dragged him into car forcibly without giving reasons for his arrest. This is horrible and political vendetta, Bharat claimed. It is common knowledge that Raju has been criticising AP government for a few months on TV channels. He made serious allegations against CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, AP Advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Y.V Subba Reddy, chairman of TTD,  and others. Is this arrest against the backdrop of his remarks? Only the police should tell.
