Prime Minister Narendra Modi has turned 71 on Friday. The nation has been celebrating his birthday as ‘Seva Diwas.’ A programme called “Seva and Samarpan Abhiyaan” has been launched today. The 20-day programme would conclude on 07 October 2021, the day twenty years ago when Narendra Modi took over as chief minister of Gujarat. It is a celebration of 20 years in office either at Gandhinagar or in New Delhi. During this mega event the party leaders and workers would participate in a big way in blood donation camps and vaccination programmes. The BJP would organize massive cleanliness programme in Uttar Pradesh and would symbolically cleanse Ganga river at 71 specified places. UP has assembly election early next year.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave a call to the party cadres to vaccinate those who have not been vaccinated so far and give it as a birthday gift to prime minister. He appealed to the people to get vaccinated in large numbers. President of India Ram Nath Kovind, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Finance Minister Niramala Sitaraman were among those who greeted Modi early in the day. Hoardings thanking Modi for giving food grains and vaccines free to the poor have been arranged throughout the country.
Sudarshan Pattnaik, famous artist, has sculptured Modi’s picture on sand at Puri sea shore as a birthday greeting to prime minister. School children, party workers have celebrated cake cutting ceremonies in their regions.
Events would be organized to focus on life and achievements of Prime Minister Modi and scholars and achievers would be invited to take part in the programmes. These events would be held throughout the country and in various regional languages. Efforts would be made to reach out to the public in a massive way. Under “Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana” programme, food would be distributed to the poor in all the States and health camps would be conducted.
All gifts received by the prime minister would be auctioned on government website and the proceeds would go to prime minister’s relief fund. PM’s birthday is being celebrated by the ruling party as “Seva Divas.” This has been the way his birthdays have been celebrated ever since he became prime minister in 2014.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has posted one-line greetings “Happy birthday Modi ji,” with an old picture in which he was seen with Modi. The prime minister spoke in Regional Summit of SCO citing radicalization of Afghanistan.
