TDP leader Uma detained, released

  • High drama in Andhra Pradesh’s Gollapudi centre

Amravati: War of words, challenges between TDP leader and former irrigation Minister Umamaheswara Rao and YCP Minister kodali Nani led to tense situation at Gollapudi centre near Vijayawada. Kodali Nani challenged Uma to come for a debate on the development programmes taken up by the YCP and the previous TDP’s regime. For this, he chose Gollapudi centre and fixed time on Tuesday. On the severe personal remarks made by Nani against him, Umamaheswara Rao came up with protest observing a day’s hunger strike. Police imposed Section 144 and Uma was detained at the centre. TDP workers raised slogans against YCP government following arrest of their leader.

Umamaheswara  Rao questioned why Jagan dropped CBI demand on his uncle Vivekanada’s murder after he took oath as CM of AP. This irked hardcore Jagan supporter,  Kodali Nani, who openly challenged TDP leader for a debate in the media. Later the minister tried to call Uma on phone about the press conference for a debate on the development policies of present YCP Government and the previous TDP dispensation. Uma did not respond.

The minister asked Uma to join him for a debate at Gollapudi which was accepted by later and he arrived at NTR statue. Civil supplies Minister however did not turn up. Uma who was detained by police was released in the evening. Uma described Kodali Nani as a coward.
