‘Sircilla Rajeshwari’, an inspiring story

  • Included in Maharashtra curriculum
  • 39-year old-differently able writer penned 800 poems until now
  • Physically challenged writer from Sircilla inspires many

Hyderabad: Her both arms were not functional, born with anomalies, and could not walk till the age 15, but she did not get depressed. Boora Rajeshwari, now popularly known as ‘Sircilla Rajeswari’ with her birth place, pens poems, paints art, and completed her Intermediate education. She has penned 800 poems which were all explained in detail in the lesson which was added in second language academic curriculum of Maharashtra.

Boora Rajeshwari, writes with her toes. She never cursed the fate for her handicaps and started going to school along with her friends. She completed her early education in a local government school and later pursued SSC through open school. She is very much passionate about literature and started writing poems on issues faced by Sircilla weavers, farmers. Popular lyricist Suddala Ashok Teja recognised her talent and published her poems with title ‘Sirscilla Rajeswari kavithalu.

Her story was incorporated as a lesson in second language (Telugu) in Intermediate second year syllabus in Maharashtra colleges. IT, Municipal Administration Minister of Telangana K. TarakaRama Rao also responded and instructed Education Department officials of Telangana to consider inclusion of Rajeshwari’s story in Telangana State education curriculum.
