Hyderabad: Indian-American business executive, Telugu Pride, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has been appointed as the new Chairman of the company. The Board of Directors unanimously elected Satya Nadella as the new chairman to replace John Thomson in the Board Election. Microsoft has played a key role in expanding the business. Prior to becoming CEO of Microsoft, Satya served as Executive Vice President of Microsoft Cloud and Enterprises Group. The company has successfully fulfilled many roles such as building computing platforms.
Nadella was instrumental in the acquisition of companies such as LinkedIn, Nuance Communications and Genomics. Nadella took over from Steve Ballmer in February 2014. Some expressed fears that Microsoft will become the technology giant dinosaur. Founded in 1975, Nadella is credited with providing more energy to the company. Nadella initially simplified corporate structure by dispensing with a number of executives.
Nadella, 53, has a passion for cloud computing. Microsoft will unveil the new generation of its Windows operating system next week. Market analysts say that it powers almost a third of the world’s desktop computers. In 2014, Thompson took over as Lead Chairman from Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. Now it seems he will be acting as an Independent director. The changes came a year after Bill Gates left the Board at Microsoft.
Satya Nadella has been the third CEO of Microsoft since its inception in 1976, after Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer. Such a great opportunity in the world iconic organization for an Indian is a matter of pride for Telugu people. Microsoft exercised for five months for CEO selection and chose Satya.
Satya Nadelladi was born in Bukkapuram village, Ellanur zone, Anantapur district. His father was Bukkapuram Nadella Yugandhar, a 1962 batch IAS officer. Nadella Yugandhar moved his family to Hyderabad after becoming an IAS officer. Satya Nadella was born in 1967 in Hyderabad. Satya studied in Hyderabad. He got married to the daughter of KR Venugopal, another IAS officer of undivided Andhra Pradesh cadre. Both Yugandhar and Venugopal served in Delhi for some years. Venugopal served three prime ministers in Delhi.
Satya Nadella holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin, USA. He worked in various capacities in the software field. They took American citizenship and settled in Washington, the headquarters of Microcsoft. He joined Microsoft in 1992 after working at Sun Microsystems for a while.
