KCR Supports Central Vista Project

• First CM from non-BJP ruled State to support
• Its symbol of self-esteem, says Telangana CM

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) conveyed greetings to PM Modi just a day before the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new parliament building in New Delhi. He wrote a letter to the prime minister which reads that the Central vista Project is a symbol of self-esteem by saying that the present Parliament building is associated with colonial past of the country.

With this greeting, KCR became the first chief minister to support Central vista project from non-BJP ruled states. There were criticisms in social media against the project which costs around Rs. 971 crore by asking if it was even required now. But Telangana CM said that it is a sense of pride and extended greeting to the prime minister on the eve of laying foundation stone for Central Vista, which will take place on Dec 10th.

KCR felt that the project was overdue and existing infrastructure in national capital, Delhi, is inadequate and wished the speedy completion of the important project. KCR government recently sanctioned a budget of Rs 617 crore for the new secretariat building amid protests by opposition parties.

New Parliament building foundation stone will be laid by PM Modi on Dec 10th as per Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Along with this, ‘Bhumi Pooja’ will be performed which can be witnessed virtually and by few invitees physically. New building will be an embodiment of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ which features crafts by local artisans according to Om Birla.

New building will be equipped with modern amenities and construction of the building will start at the end of this month and is expected to be completed by 2022.

According to the Speaker, sessions of both the Houses of Parliament in new building will begin as a mark of completion of 75 years of India’s Independence, in year 2022. HCP Design, planning and Management Private Ltd bagged the contract for the new Parliament building. There will be a separate entry/access gates for PM, Rajya Sabha Chairperson, Lok Sabha Speaker, for MPs and for public in new building.

But Supreme Court gave permission only for laying foundation stone and construction should be taken up only after final hearing in the court.
