Farm laws uproar: Opposition parties to meet President

  • Only 5 leaders permitted to meet President on Wednesday
  • Sitaram Yechury requests to increase limit
  • Bills passed in anti democratic manner, alleges opposition

New Delhi: Three farm laws made in the Parliament are anti-democratic and the opposition leaders will meet President Ramnath kovind tomorrow, said CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on Tuesday. He said that more than 20 political parties supported Bharat Bandh which means majority are against the  new farm laws.

Former Congress party President Rahul Gandhi, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, DMK’s Baalu, CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechuri and one from CPI will be part of delegation which will meet President on Wednesday  to express their concern on farm laws.

Rashtrapati Bhavan gave permission only for five persons as per the Covid protocol. Before meeting President, leaders who are opposing farm laws will take a collective stand as per Sharad pawar.

Meanwhile Union Minister for Home Kishan Reddy said that PM Modi is ready for “MSP and Mandi Act (APMC Act)”. Government is committed for welfare of farmers, Reddy said.
