Are BRS legislators trying to identify the black-sheep in party before elections?

  • Loose talk by the suspects is a headache for them
  • The campaign of these leaders ‘my MLA facing difficulties’ irritating the legislators
  • Sandra Veeraiah adopts a novel method to weed out dissidents

One can have the above doubt after noticing the efforts of BRS legislator from Sattupalli Sandra Venkata Veeraiah. The MLA started conducting mandal-leval meetings with the second-rung party leaders and workers and giving a clear message to them. The message is, “I will recognise your services and give proper importance to you if you want to continue in the party. Do not believe the promises of opposition leaders. If you want to leave the party you are free to decide on your future course. Do not show double standards. I will not entertain the leaders who help the rivals by sitting on my side.”

Sandra has been organising such meetings in low profile manner and giving a warning on one side by saying that he knew the leaders who are close to the rivals and at the same time promising them that he will give proper positions to them in the party if they chose to stay back. He said that some of the party leaders are spreading rumours against him through mouth-talk – the present elections are  tough to him. The MLA is trying to convince the cadre that BRS government is going to continue even after the next assembly elections.

Discontent is evident among BRS leaders against the sitting MLAs in Wyra, Kothagudem, Pinapaka, Yellandu, Aswaraopet and Khammam in the erstwhile Khammam district. The BRS legislators are facing difficulty to check the dissent activities of their party cadre. Many of the BRS leaders were in touch with the former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.  Many of them have allegedly promised him to sail along with him in 2023 assembly elections.

The common comment of the BRS leaders when they interact with  neutral persons is, “The winning of BRS MLA in my assembly segment is very difficult this time”. Such attitude of the party leaders is an irritating point to the ruling party legislators. They are trying to solve this issue by following different techniques. (eom)
