Deepti’s policy won appreciation of 2 Union ministers

  • GM of Mineral Development Corporation succumbs to post-covid issues
  • Deepti lost her mother on 4th May, and succumbed to post-covid complications within a fortnight.

New Delhi: Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar, (Environment), and Prahlad Venkatesh Joshi (Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs) recorded appreciation for the contribution of Mrs. Deepti, General Manager, Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation, in developing an effective sand policy. Mrs. Deepti, breathed her last, due to post-Covid19 complications leading to heart attack, on 19th May at a private hospital in Hyderabad. CVL Narasimhan, former Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Jagdish Shattar, former Chief Minister of Karnataka,  and Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy personally called the family members and consoled. Deepti (40) was the daughter of the Additional Superintendent of Police Krishna Prasad who was slain by the AK-56-wielding ISI terrorists in Tolichowki of Hyderabad city around 30 years ago.

Mrs, Deepti made an effective power point presentation on the sand policy and related administrative measures before the Environment Ministry a few months ago which was appreciated by Prakash Javadekar. The minister also directed the department to study the points raised by Mrs Deepti and put them into practice. Incidentally, her husband Vikas knows the minister, but she never tried to mention that to the minister. Vikas Bansod, Attorney of Supreme Court and former Adviser to Karnataka Governor, told this author that after receiving the appreciation from the Minister, he has spoken to him and disclosed that Deepti was his wife, then the minister invited the couple to his residence and discussed the policy thoroughly.  The Mining Minister Prahlad Joshi expressed his shock at the demise of this young officer who evolved an IT based sand policy.

Vikas told that she has represented to Aadhaar authorities to link up the sand allocations with Aadhaar numbers to make fool-proof arrangements to prevent allocations beyond permitted quotas and to eliminate the possibility of corruption totally. As in charge of the IT wing of the Corporation, Deepti along with Vikas pursued with Mr Pronab Mohanty DDG of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIADI) and explained the need for linking, which was then approved.
