Jan 17, MGR’s birthday, Rajini to launch party

  • Public meeting with huge rally planned in Madurai
  • Pilgrim centre chosen as Chiranjeevi launched PRP at Tirupati
  • Speculations in TN politics as demand for Madhurai as second capital grows

Chennai: As per the sources from Chennai close to Rajinikanth, Madurai will witness a huge public meeting on 17 January 2021, where Thalaiva will launch his political party, Makkal Sevai Katchi (MSK).Superstar who is busy with shooting in Hyderabad at Ramoji Film City will reach Chennai on Dec 29th after completing the schedule. However, his close aides are looking at a few dates such as Jan 14th, which will be a first day of Thai month and pongal falls on that day. 17th is the birth day of MG Ramachandran and some say it is more auspicious to announce party. Final date has to be finalised by Rajnikanth.

Why Madurai for launch of party?

Fans say there are two reasons to prefer Madurai to Chennai. One, it is devotional place and second, there is demand growing in TN to make Madurai a second capital. Tollywood Mega Star Chiranjeevi took Tirupati, pilgrim centre, for launching of his political party, Prajarajyam(PRP).Rajni fans are comparing the same with their hero.

Minimum percentage for Rajini can turn things around

Rajini’s party leaders are busy in calculating vote percentage to be polled before the party launch by their chief. According to them, Vijayakanth, another actor -turned-politician secured 10% of votes when he launched political party, DMDK. This was achieved when Jalayalalitha and Karunanadi, were alive. Now the calculations of Rajini fans are to target 25 to 30% of votes, which will be a game changer in TN politics. They are confident that 25% is easy for their party to secure with anti incumbency on the part of the AIADMK and poor show of opposition, DMK.

Cases surround Rajini

Rajinikanth was summoned in a case related to sterile shooting that happened in 2018. Court directed Rajnikanth to appear on 19 January 2021. Sterile violence resulted in police firing killing 13 persons in Tuticorn in May 2018. There was agitations at that time which spread to Chennai setting fire to public property and government vehicles and hurling stones. Rajinikanth visited the house of kin who had been shot dead by police claiming that “anti social elements had infiltrated in the agitation”. Rajinikanth was summoned to appear on Feb 25th this year but he sought exemption by claiming that it would cause inconvenience to public.

Meanwhile DMK Satalin said that Rajni and Kamal were forced by BJP to join politics to ensure DMK doesn’t win. He strongly felt that they will split AIADMK votes and they are least bothered about these parties.
