England demolishes India in T20 World Cup

  • Pakistan-England final on Sunday at MCG
  • India batted well but failed in bowling, fielding
  • England openers bat superbly

India lost to England in the T20 World Cup cricket semi-finals without fighting. Winning the toss, England chose to field and put India to bat. Rahul was back in the pavilion in less than fifteen minutes. Then Rohit Sharma followed the suit after managing to hit  four fours. It was Virat Kohli who made a 50 and an excellent show by Hardik Pandya  that took India to 158 runs in 20 overs for six wickets. While Kohli made his fourth half-century, Hardik Pandya made 63 runs in 33 balls. Jose Butler, England captain, made 80 in 49 balls while  another opener Alex Hales hit 86 off 47 balls. Both the openers remained not out till they destroyed India.

England openers, Captain Buttler and Hales unleashed an onslaught that had no end. They were together when they chased the target successfully in 16 overs when they made 170 for no loss. It was a humiliating defeat for India which was dreaming of winning the world cup. Having topped the table in its group ahead of Pakistan and South Africa, India flopped in bowling and fielding departments on Thursday at Adelaide. Pakistan and England will play the finals on Sunday at MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground). The match will start at 1.30 PM IST.

While Indians played like children who lost their way, England openers played like true champions. Rohit Sharma said after the match was over that it is not possible to teach every player how to handle pressure. He said although India did well with the bat, it failed miserably with the ball.
