CM KCR presents 22 representations to PM

New Delhi : Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) had a 50-minute meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. During the meeting KCR handed over 22 representations to the prime minister. He is understood to have offered a hand of friendship saying that as far as development was concerned the TRS government would cooperate with the Centre. KCR has asked the PM to provide Covid vaccine free of cost. Otherwise, the cost of the vaccine should be affordable for the common people, he told Modi. KCR could meet all the important functionaries in the Central government in this three-day visit. He met Amit Shah and Gajendra Shekhawat on Friday.

Slew of memoranda

KCR could meet Modi at 7 pm on Saturday. The chief minister reached the capital three days ago by a special flight. In one of the memoranda, the CM has urged an assistance of Rs. 1300 for flood relief. He also asked for a grant to face the deficit caused by Carona. Funds for Mission Bhagiratha (Rs. 19,205 crore) and Mission Kakatiya (Rs. 5000 crore) also were sought as recommended by Niti Ayog. KCR has complained to the PM that Pothireddipadu construction is going on in AP in a clandestine way. The CM has requested the PM to release Rs. 450 crore pending instalment under backward district development programme. He also appealed to the Central government to revive Cement Corporation of India unit at Adilabad. He has also requested the PM to enhance the strength of judges in Telangana High Court from the existing 24 to 42.

Reservations for Muslims

The TS chief minister has urged the prime minister to increase reservations in Telangana. The backward classes among the Muslims should get 12 percent and overall percentage of reservations for the BCs should be fixed at 37. The reservations for the SCs should be 15 percent and Adivasis 10 percent. Women should get 33 percent reservations in Parliament and assemblies.

Central funds  

KCR has urged Modi to sanction All India Institute of Management and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research to the State. A steel plant has to be set up at Bayyaram and a National Investment and Manufacture zone at Zaheerabad with central funds. The chief minister also said the road works in extremist-affected areas in the State has to be completely funded by the Central government. Funds for the flood flow canal of Sriramsagar projects should be released as per revised estimates.
