Kolkata: BCCI President Saurav Ganguly was rushed to hospital after he fell ill while working in the gym. With complaints of dizziness and chest pain, doctors of Woodland hospital rushed him to ICU. He is stable now and angioplasty will be done by doctors in a few hours from now.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee came on twitter saying ‘Saurav had mild cardiac arrest’ and wished him speedy recovery. She further said that her prayers are with him and his family members.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah said that Ganguly is responding well to the treatment. Hospital sources have not yet come with official statement.
Ganguly recently attended unveiling of Arun Jatley’s statue at Feroz shah Kotla stadium in Delhi and went to Ahmedabad to attend BCCI’s annual meeting. Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly met Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on 26 December. This gave rise to speculations that the star cricketer may join BJP. However, Raj Bhavan sources said that there is no political agenda behind the meet and it is just a ‘courtesy call’. Ganguly also made it clear that it wasroutine visit saying, “When the Governor wanted to meet you, what can you do?”
