Hyderabad: According to the BJP sources, former Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy will join saffron party on July 1st in the presence of BJP National President J.P.Nadda. He joined active politics in 2013 on invitation from TRS founder, K. Chandrasekhar Rao and won MP seat from Chevella Lok Sabha in 2014. He resigned from the TRS in the year 2018 and joined Congress party in presence of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. He lost to Ranjith Reddy (TRS) by a margin of votes in 2019 elections. He later resigned from that party too in March, 2021. He is staying far from the Congress from then on wards.
K. Vishweshwar Reddy, was declared as richest politician in Telangana when he declared his assets worth of Rs. 528 crore in his election affidavit in 2014. He is grandson of former Deputy CM of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh K.V. Ranga Reddy, after whom the district of Ranga Reddy was named.
Vishweshwar Reddy has close relationship with Eatala Rajender (BJP) as Jamuna, wife of the latter, is said to be Konda’s nephew. Vishweshwar Reddy even worked for Eatala’s win in Huzurabad by-election, say party sources. After a break from active politics and on focussing on his personal business, now the former MP is keen on returning to politics once again. He has been in touch with BJP’s bigwigs for a few months. Even Bhupender Yadav, BJP’s National secretary, tried to pull him into Saffron party during GHMC elections held in 2020.
On Wednesday, TBJP President Bandi Sanjay and Telangana BJP in charge met Konda at his residence and held talks for more than 45 minutes. Though Vishweshwar Reddy officially did not come out about his joining, BJP sources said that he will be joining the party on July 1st, in presence of the party’s national president, Nadda. He will contest on BJP ticket for Parliament from Chevella constituency, as per Saffron sources.
