India’s fitting reply to Imran’s Kashmir remarks

Sneha Dubey, India’s permanent representative at UN

India’s first secretary at the United Nations General Assembly, Sneha Dubey, gave a fitting reply to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s remarks on Kashmir.  Exercising the right to reply, she said, “It is one more attempt by leader of Pakistan to tarnish the image of this august forum by bringing in matters internal to my country and going so far as to spew falsehoods on the world stage,” according to ANI. Imran Khan while hosting terrorism and exporting it was trying to play the victim.

Sneha accused Pakistan of being an “arsonist distinguishing itself as a firefighter by harboring terrorists. She called Pakistan to “immediately vacate all areas under its illegal occupation.”

Imran Khan, in his pre-recorded speech aired on Friday evening at the UN General Assembly, said, “New Delhi has embarked on what it ominously calls the final solution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.” He was referring to the decision of the government of India two years ago to abrogate Article 370.  He listed the alleged violations of human rights by the union government and its armed forces in Jammu & Kashmir.

Imran Khan playing a victim

He accused India of snatching the mortal remains of the great Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani who died in early September at the age of 91. Geelani’s family members alleged that his body was forcibly taken from home and buried in a hurried manner. Imran asked the UN to demand a proper burial of the separatist leader. It is India’s responsibility to engage Pakistan which desires peace by all means, he said.

“Such statements (by Pakistani leaders) deserve our collective contempt and sympathy for the mindset of the person who utters falsehood repeatedly,” commented Sneha saying that she would like to set the record straight. The leaders of Pakistan are used to misusing the fora provided by the UN to spread falsehood and malicious propaganda against India. She said Imran Khan was trying to divert the attention of the world from the sad state of affairs in Pakistan where the terrorists of all hues are being sheltered, fed, armed and trained. At the same time the lives of the people, particularly of the minority communities, are absolutely miserable.

India is a pluralistic democracy with substantial population of minorities some of whom held highest offices in the country,  Sneha Dubey said. The world is aware of Pakistan harboring terrorists and this is a country that has been openly supporting terrorism by training and abetting them. She repeated India’s irrevocable stand that the union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, including  the areas under the illegal occupation of Pakistan,  are and going to be inalienable part of the country.

Sneha said India also desires good relations with Pakistan and other neighbors. But it is for Pakistan to stop talking falsehood and sincerely try to create an atmosphere conducive to peace. It is for Pakistan to stop using its land by terrorists for cross border terrorism.
