TV Ravan Arvind Trivedi no more

Arvind Trivedi, who acted as Ravana in Ramanand Sagar’s mega TV serial Ramayan died in Mumbai of heart attack on Tuesday evening. He was 82. Arvind, a former MP, acted in about 300 Hindi and Gujarati films. He became household name with his splendid performance as Ravan in the  legendary mythological series, Ramayan. He was a Member of Parliament from 1991 to 1996.

Arun Govil (Ram in Ramayan serial), Sunil Lahri (Lakshman) and Dipika Chikhlia (Sita) had posted emotional tweets expressing deep shock and condolences. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep condolences saying that Arvind Trivedi was not only a good actor, he was also passionate about serving the people. Ashok Pandit, film maker and president of the Indian Film and Television Directors’s Association, tweeted, “Sad to know about  the demise of well known theatre, TV & film actor Arvind Trivedi due to massive heart attack.  My deep condolences to the family members”

Arvind Trivedi was born in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh on 8 November 1938. He started his acting career with Gujarti theatre. Apart from playing Ravan in Ramayan he also played a key role in the cult TV serial Vikram aur Betaal. His brother Upendra Trivedi is also a well known Gujarati film personality. Arvind acted for forty years in social films also. He bagged several awards for acting in Gujarati films. He was elected to Lok Sabha from Sabarakanta constituency in 1991 as a BJP candidate.
