5 TMC MPs ask President to sack WB Governor

Kolkata: Five Trinamool Congress MPs have on Wednesday urged President Ram Nath Kovid to recall Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar for the political bias the latter has been blatantly indulging in. The MPs alleged that the Governor “has engineered to destabilise the State government machinery as a whole.” The MPs have asked for the removal of the Governor.

Governor vitiating political atmosphere

Trinamool Congress MPs  Derek O’Brien, Sudip Banerjee, Sukhendu Sekhar Roy, Kalyan Banerjee and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar have appealed to Kovid to take action against the Govenor Dhankhar who has been vitiating the political atmosphere in West Bengal. The Governor has been indulging in daily attacks on Trinamool Congress government through deliberate statements and tweets thus helping the BJP months before assembly elections. Dhankhar was particularly critical of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with his aggressive comments which are unbecoming of a Governor, the letter said.

Governor asking CM to apologise unprecedented

When there was an attack of the convoy of BJP president JP Nadda by some miscreants the Governor demanded an apology from the chief minister transgressing  upon the authority of another constitutional head of the government. The MPs also complained that the Governor has not been signing a number of Bills passed by State legislature. He has been playing the role of an antagonist of the chief minister right from day one, they commented.

BJP leader supports Dhankhar

The Governor was supported by the BJP leadership which said that Dhankhar is behaving within his limits and it is the CM who has been crossing the limits. BJP leader Kailash Vijayavargiya commented that the letter written by the five TM MPs will not have any effect on the Governor Dhankhar who is a thorough gentleman. Vijayavargiya said the Governor is acting within his parameters and the President knows it.  West Bengal is scheduled to have assembly elections in April-May, 2021.
