Which law authorizes you to beat people on Road, Mr. DGP?

Who gave this authority to police to beat the farmers, delivery boys or those going to hospital or generally anybody found on the road? Which is the Rule, Mr. DGP please tell us?  Who are you to beat? Which law, which GO, which letter you have to empower the police to beat?

Are we not human beings? Are you not a human being? Then why the humanity is missing?  Police is wielding lathis and breaking bones of farmers who are walking up to their fields in Vikarabad district. Reports say several dozens of farmers received severe lathi blows from the inhuman bahaviour of police personnel.  A farmer pleaded that if he cannot go and give water, animals will die of thirst. Police constable did not understand it. What kind of training they have? It’s a shame on the department.

A media report says one Venkatayya was beaten by police in spite of his request to allow him to reach hospital. It is fortunate that SP Narayana responded like a human being, called him on phone and advised him to take care of health. He should get back his money, Mr. SP, with an apology from the individual who acted without any sensitivity, so that other police will not resort to this inhuman activity.

Besides humanity, most of the police appear to have lost the common sense, as they beat up the delivery boys black and blue, for violating the lockdown rules. They mposed fines indiscriminately through challans in the last three days.  App based car drivers are also facing rough treatment from the police and their challans. A cab driver who dropped someone from airport to home was fined Rs. 1000.

The Minister and DGP intervened and since yesterday the delivery boys were allowed on roads. When the lockdown is imposed, the Government should make it clear that police has no authority to beat, and they should teach police to use discretion, humanity, common sense and think whether the person on road is there for any genuine reason.

Each delivery boy, who was beaten ap, should get compensation and an apology.  There should be a disciplinary action against those who wielded lathi simply because they have it in their hand.  No law authorizes the police to beat even the violator of lockdown rules. Please remember and be warned.
