5. Goda’sVaranamAyiram

In her fifth Pashuram of VaranamAyiram (Thousand Elephents) Godadevi is explaining her dream to her dear friend, how the young girls went in front of the groom to welcome, while He arrives in with His elegant style to platform of marriage ceremony.

Meaning

kadiroli =Bright rays of the Sun,dIpam = lights, kalasamudanEndi = decorated golden pots full of sacred water (poornakumbha)were  held in hand,
sadirilamangayar= beautiful young girls, taamvanduedirkolla = came face to face with, maduraiyaar mannan = King of Madhura, adinilaitottuengum = as his feet touches the earth,
adira= it was getting shaken, pugudal, he enters,kkanaakkandentozhi naan, so I dreamt a dream O friend.

O dear friend, in my dream I have seen many beautiful young damsels, carrying mangaladeepams shining like bright Sun and Golden Kalasams filled with sacred water, were reaching out Sri Krishna, the King of Madhura, arriving in style as his foot-steps were shaking the ground.

Poem

Bright Sun-like shining lamps Golden Kalashas

Right in young hands of beautiful damsels,

Straight welcoming Madhuradhipati, arriving with

Light-shaking footsteps, so I dreamt, my dear.

Lord Krishna is referred to as Madhuradhipati, (the king of Mathura) which also mean that His deeds are sweetest, it is sweet to think of Him or talking about. A devotee found a beautiful idol of Lord Krishna, which he rightly placed in his worship place. He was happy about it and was thinking what name he should call Him. The story goes to say that Krishna appeared in dream and advised him to call Madhuradhipati. It shows that He also likes that name.
