Hyderabad: Vice President Sri Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu said that Alai Balai is the confluence of warmth, respect and love in India, which is the symbol of unity in diversity with various cultures and traditions.
The Vice President participated as the chief guest in the programme held in Jalvihar, Necklace Road, organized by Haryana Governor Sri Bandaru Dattatreya. He said that it gives him a great joy to participate in programmes related to Indian culture and traditions.
The protection of our culture and values is the only reason for the survival of our originality even after thousands of foreign invasions and conspiracies and Alai Balai is one such programme to protect our culture, Naidu said. He reminded the people of Bala Gangadhar Tilak, who united people at the time of Independence movement by calling for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, and lauded Bandaru Dattatreya for continuing the same spirit and uniting people with Alai Balai programme continuously for the last 13 years, except for a break during the time when Corona virus was rampant.
Culture has the power to unite societies regardless of caste, region and community, he said. There is no doubt that culture is the only uniting factor not only in the past, but also in present and in the future, he added.
The programmes such as Alai Balai show how to respect others and how anything can be achieved when people come together and share their ideas and views, the Vice President said. Even though there were attempts to weaken our culture at the time of Independence movement, our great ancestors protected our values without even caring for their lives and handed over the culture to us and that it is the responsibility of every citizen to safeguard it, said Naidu. Rejuvenation of culture is the responsibility of every citizen, he added.
