Yogeshwar’s Olympic medal may turn to gold
- WADA retests 2008 and 2012 games samples, found several positive
- 2012 London 60 kg event Gold medallist Toghrul Asgarov also tested positive
New Delhi: Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt luck seems to be turning favorable after disappointing first round exit from Rio 2016 Olympics. Medal upgradation likely to happen due to 2012 London Olympics 60kg freestyle event gold medallist Azerbaijan’s Toghrul Asgarov also tested positive in a retest conducted by World Anti Doping Agency (WADA), few days after his bronze medal was being upgraded to silver in a similar incident.
Before upgrading to gold, Yogeshwar’s sample collected before London 2012 Olympics would also be retested and confirmation of gold will only happen if the results are negative.
If Yogeshwar awarded gold, he will become the second Indian individual gold medallist after shooter Abhinav Bindra.
