Yadav war reaches Indraprastha
LUCKNOW: As Akhilesh Yadav battles one of his uncle Shivpal, another uncle Ram Gopal Yadav has shown his support on Wednesday by backing the UP CM in the Yadav vs Yadav family war.
Ram Gopal Yadav, who is the cousin of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, said on Wednesday that Akhilesh had not been informed about his father Mulayam Singh Yadav’s decision to remove him as the party’s UP chief and replace him with his uncle Shivpal Yadav. He added saying, “When CM was removed as the state president, the leadership has made a mistake by not informing him about the situation. They should’ve told him that with elections coming, the role of state president must be played by someone else.” He called it as a simple case of misunderstanding, stressing on by saying that ‘there is no crisis’.
Akhilesh Yadav is now backed by Ram Gopal Yadav and his cousin and Lok Sabha MP Dharmendra Yadav.
Uttar Pradesh’s ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) seemed to plunge into a major crisis earlier on Tuesday as CM Akhilesh Yadav stripped his uncle and powerful cabinet minister Shivpal Yadav of all the important portfolios and handing him the social welfare department. The move that puts him in direct confrontation with his father and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav few months before the assembly polls in the state. Shivpal Yadav, who held several important portfolios like flood control, irrigation, PWD etc. now limited to not so important ones. The number of portfolios under him now reduced from 10 to 2.
Not long before he acted against his uncle, Akhilesh Yadav was removed by Mulayam Singh as the ruling party’s UP chief. Mulayam Singh installed his brother Shivpal Yadav in that post.
Akhilesh has kept PWD portfolio with himself, while the charge of Irrigation and Flood Control departments has been given to Avdhesh Prasad, whereas Balram Yadav was given additional charge of the Revenue and many other departments, which have been held by Shivpal Yadav till now.
Earlier on Tuesday, state’s chief secretary Deepak Singhal was sacked, who had superseded several senior officials to be appointed as the UP’s top bureaucrat just 2 months ago.
News reports suggest that Akhilesh Yadav has had many differences with his uncle Shivpal Yadav in the recent months, especially over the planned merging of gangster Mukhtar Ansari’s party with the Samajwadi Party. This merger has not happened, but Akhilesh’s battle with his uncle has reportedly upset Mulayam Singh Yadav, who credits Shivpal Yadav as the party’s key strategist for the merges, alliances and acquisitions for the upcoming elections.
Akhilesh, who has faced huge flak for the poor law and order in his term, is desperately attempting an whole image makeover. He had sacked 2 of his ministers yesterday over corruption allegations despite the fact that they were close to his father.
Chief secretary Deepak Singhal, who was Sacked earlier on Tuesday had reportedly rushed to Delhi to meet Mulayam Singh Yadav, who is said to have told him that he cannot interfere in matters that are prerogative of CM. Akhilesh was removed as the party’s UP chief soon after this, according to the reports.
Following this Shivpal Yadav had rushed to Delhi yesterday to meet Mulayam Singh Yadav and both are expected to travel to Lucknow sometime today. According to the sources, he has strongly recommended Mulayam Singh Yadav to remove Akhilesh as CM and hold the top post himself.
