World IT meet 2018 in Hyd

Hyderabad, January 16: The Telangana Government will host the prestigious World Conference of Information Technology-2018 in the State capital, IT Minister KT Ramarao has said.

Addressing the media after a meeting with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at the Secretariat along with Nasscom Chairman R Chandrasekhar and vice-chairman BVR Mohan Reddy here on Friday, KTR said the State government has allocated Rs 6 crore (1 million US dollars) for making preparatory arrangements. Thanking the Nasscom for its successful efforts to conduct international event, the IT minister said Telagana is a fledgling State of seven months and will focus on promotion of IT Research and Development with suitable policies to cater to global IT needs and bridge the gap between the IT education and industries, he said, adding that the conference will help huge potential to raise profile of the State to promote trade and investment, support innovation driven early stage technology companies, showcase Telangana achievements in technology, infrastructure and make Hyderabad a global city.

The conference will also hear the voice of the world IT companies, growth and future plans, prepare policies to cater to changing world needs, focus on research and development and improve job opportunities under a single platform. Those on the dais will make it to WCIT 2016 to be held in Brazil, the US and other nations to invite IT and industry giants and governments and organisations across the globe, he said. Rubbishing ‘rumors’ and reports against the Chief Minister’s proposed US visit, KTR said the Chief Minister will make it to America and other nations to invite global IT giants, bigwigs and organisations for the event to be held in a grand scale portraying the rich culture of Telangana.

Nasscom has membership of 130 countries and about 4,000 delegates from 90 countries will attend the meeting, he said. Future Enterprises is the theme of the conference that will focus on all issues related global IT growth, huge technology opportunities, policies, IT promotion, he said, adding that they will take cooperation from Centre and other States and companies for the event. The Telangana Government, he said, is likely to announce its IT policy during next Cabinet meeting.

When asked, KTR said child pornography will be dealt with seriously and the government will clamp down on such promoters. “Ultimately girl child’s safety, women protection is our priority and steps will be taken in that direction”, KTR said. The officials will be pressed into the job to take on porno sites, he stated. A release from CMO stated KCR suggested Nasscom to conduct the event on par with world standards and the government is ready to offer all support and cooperation. (NSS)
