Women MLAs Create Ruckus At AP Assembly Media Point
Amaravati: The women legislators belonging to the ruling TDP and the Opposition YSR Congress created ruckus at the Assembly media point on Tuesday. The MLAs competed with each other to speak to the media creating unpleasant scenes forcing the police and the Assembly marshals to intervene and end the war of words.
It all started with the Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao adjourning the Assembly for 10 minutes following pandemonium in the House over the remarks of YSR Congress legislator Giddi Eswari over atrocities on women in the State. She alleged that atrocities were on the rise in the State since Chandrababu Naidu came to power in 2014. She recalled the assault on Thahsildar Vanajakshi, the eve-teasing death of student Rishiteswari and other incidents. At this point the Speaker withdraw mike to Eswari and gave an opportunity to TDP legislator V Anitha leading to the YSR Congress legislators holding protest in the well of the House, leading to adjournment.
As the House was adjourned, the legislators walked to the media point. TDP legislator Anitha began to speak to the media when YSR Congress legislator Eswari walked in and started to give counter to the TDP’s atrocities against women. Though Anitha made an attempt to grab the mike and speak, she could not succeed leading to her exit.
Later, as Eswari was continuing to speak, Anitha returned to the venue along with Minister Peethala Sujatha reached the media point and grabbed the TV channel mikes. At this time, the marshals and the police also tried to remove the YSR Congress legislator leading to commotion. The YSR Congress women legislators alleged that the TDP was trying to suppress their voice both in the Assembly and outside.
After the police and the marshals removed the YSR Congress women legislators, the TDP legislator Anitha and Minister Sujatha accused the YSR Congress legislators of misleading the people by spreading false information.
