HYDERABAD: Alleging that filing “illegal weapons case” against Arunodaya Vimalakka was undemocratic, some 10 Left parties have demanded that the State government withdraw the false cases against her immediately.
The Left parties, including CPI, CPM, RSP, Forward Block, CPI (ML), SUCI, CPI-(ML) New Democracy, MCPI (U) and CPI (ML) Liberation convened a meeting at Maqdhoom Bhavan here on Saturday under the president ship of MD Gouse.
In a press release here on Sunday, the Left parties’ leaders stated Vimalakka inspired the people during the Telangana Movement with her songs and dances and it was not proper for the Telangana government to foist cases against her. They opined that foisting false cases is nothing but violation of civil rights and freedom of expression and obstruction of people’s rights provided by the Constitution.
They alleged that the State Government filed conspiracy case against Vimalakka, who addressed Beedi Workers’ Union meeting held at Nizamabad and spoke against imperialism. They warned the KCR government that the public movement will be intensified if the government tried to suppress persons like Vimalakka, who was waging a fight for the rights of workers. They said they were condemning the harassment of government and demanded that the government withdraw the weapons case and conspiracy case against Vimalakka.
The Left parties also demanded that the KCR government initiate steps to fill one lakh vacant posts along with regularization of contract workers, DSC notification to B.Ed. candidates immediately. “Otherwise, public movements will be intensified”, they warned. (NSS)
