Will Naidu Campaign In Nandyal?
Nandyal: Even as the betting on the outcome of the by-election is picking up across the State, there is a big debate going on about the possible electioneering by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the segment. According to the Telugu Desam Party sources, Chandrababu Naidu had initially planned to campaign for one day on August 19, while his son and Minister for IT, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Nara Lokesh was scheduled for a two-day electioneering on August 17 and 18. But now the sources said that Chandrababu Naidu had dropped his son’s campaign tour and had decided to extend his campaign for two more days. According to the revised scheduled, Chandrababu Naidu would now campaign for three days from August 19. TDP legislator from Hindupur, Nandamuri Balakrishna, is campaigning in the segment for one day today.
The TDP Ministers and leaders are campaigning from day one and have set the things in place for the party’s victory. The ruling TDP is banking on the developmental initiatives of the government, besides the star campaign by Chandrababu Naidu. The TDP is feeling comfortable with the Muslim voters who constitute 60,000 in the constituency. Having given the MLC post to former minister N Md Farooq, the TDP feels that it had won the confidence of the Muslim community. Besides this, the traders in Nandyal town are happy after the road widening and feel that their business activity has improved. Their long-pending demand is now addressed and they are thus happy with the ruling party, which provides a cushion for the TDP.
Ministers Kaluva Srinivasulu, Somireddi Chandramohan Reddy and C Adinarayana Reddy have been leading the campaign, while Minister P Narayana is coordinating with the cadre. The TDP also has the advantage of being in power and has the support of the officials and the police. Above all, Chandrababu Naidu is a proven strategist when it comes to winning an election and it would be even much easier for him if it were the by-election. His success in the by-elections all through his career as Chief Minister stands as a great strength for the ruling party leaders.
