Welcome Rahul Gandhi But Conditions Apply: Harish Rao

Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao advised Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi to praise TRS in his Sanga Reddy speech on Thursday for its good work. Or else….

Hyderabad: TPCC planned party’s Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s huge public meeting in Sanga Reddy, a day before Telangana formation day, on June 1st.

But it received a serious and sharp warning from Telangana Irrigation Minister Harish Rao who said that he will welcome Rahul Gandhi to Telangana but on one conditions.

As per him, Rahul Gandhi should talk about the development TRS party has achievedu in these three years and warned him that party won’t spare if anything goes wrong in Rahul’s speech.

Neighbouring State, Karnataka, which is ruled by the Congress, is praising our government. So Rahul should also be ready to praise our good deeds, Harish said.

Sangareddy has a special significance for the Congress since Indira Gandhi adopted Medak constituency after Emergency. She addressed a huge meeting at Sangareddy in 1979 in run up to 1980 elections.

TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy and other leaders hope that the magic will work again and bring them to power if they work with dedication and commitment.

Rahul Gandhi will certainly ignite the past memories on June 1st at Ambedkar Stadium. 2019 elections will be crucial for the Congress party both at centre and in the state. Rahul’s public meeting will launch the Congress campaign for the elections two years away in right earnest. The party has to first overcome the divided loyalties and group politics. The unity of purpose that was visible in 1979-80 when all the leaders worked for Indira Gandhi with single-minded devotion has to be revived. The group politics which have been the bane of the Congress have to be buried in order to Face well-entrenched Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and the resurgent BJP.

Minister Warns Private Hospitals Against Caesarean Deliveries

Telangana Irrigation Minister Harish Rao came down heavily on private hospitals for forcing women to undergo cesarean survey even when there was absolutely no need. He was distributing KCR Kits.

Siddhipet: Minister Harish Rao on Saturday warned private hospitals not to go for caesarian deliveries unless it is unavoidable. Stating that private hospitals are resorting to caesarian deliveries, he said that stern action will be taken against such hospitals. He launched KCR Kit scheme at Siddhipet at a maternal health centre.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that it was observed that a number of caesarian deliveries need to be reduced as a lot of complications are arising. Many time, though the woman doesn’t need the surgery, hospitals are suggesting them to go for it, opined Harish Rao.

He claimed that a scheme like KCR Kit is implemented nowhere in the country. He reminded that the Telangana government is upgrading the standards of government hospitals.

Saying that all amenities are being provided in the government hospitals, he announced that a dialysis centre will be opened in Siddhipet in a month.  The 300-bed hospital in Siddipet will be completed in the next three months, he told.  Harish said that Bhojanamritam scheme is being implemented to the patients and relatives that come to MCH hospital.

KCR To Pass On The Baton To KTR

The way Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), Telangana Minister of IT and Municipal Administration has been aggressively going about his ministerial as well as party work

Hyderabad: The way Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), Telangana Minister of IT and Municipal Administration has been aggressively going about his ministerial as well as party work, it appears as though it is a matter of time before he takes over from his father.

Of late, KTR is seen addressing party men at places other than his constituency. After T Harish Rao, Minister for Irrigation, was persuaded by Radha Krishna, the owner of ABN-Andhra Jyothy and a close friend of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), to say, in a live interview, that he would have no objection to work with KTR as Chief Minister, the passing of the mantle to KTR appears to be a mere formality. The interview that Harish Rao gave to the channel was contrived and planned so as to commit, Harish, KCR’s nephew, in case KTR is elevated sooner than letter.

That KTR is the natural successor to KCR has been established beyond doubt by the top most importance given to him by way of weighty portfolios and the extraordinary visibility in the media. KTR, on his part, has been behaving in a dignified manner without throwing his weight around. He has brushed aside the talk of his becoming the Chief Minister. The party cadres are, by now, mentally prepared to accept KTR as their future leader.

Elaborate arrangements are being made for party’s plenary in Hyderabad on April 21. A massive public meeting is planned at Warangal on June 6, Telangana Formation Day. KCR may make a major announcement or give a clear indication at one of the meetings. KTR may be anointed, to start with, as party’s working president, a prelude to taking over reins of the government.

It is interesting to watch how Harish Rao would react to the announcement that if and when made by the Chief Minister. Harish is a senior and more accomplished politician among the two young leaders. He has organisational strength and spends all his time for the party work and administration. KTR, on the other hand, prefers some private time for himself. He is a better speaker in English, Telugu and Urdu. As both are KCR’s close relatives and equally and eminently eligible to take over from him, the choice is certainly difficult to make. After a lot of dithering, KCR has apparently decided to hand over power to his son a la Mulayam Singh Yadav. Mulayam also has a loving younger brother , Shivpal Yadav, who is an organisation man like Harish. He has opted, soon after 2012 elections, to make his son, Akhilesh, who like KTR, is well behaved and foreign educated, the Chief Minister of UP.

It is to be seen if KCR will wait till 2019 election and then give the baton to his son or formalise KTR’s leadership of the party and government before the elections so that he can lead the charge in electoral battles.

I will Never Cross KCR’s Line: Harish Rao

Hyderabad: T Harish Rao, Telangana Irrigation Minister, nephew of CM KCR, clarified that he will never cross CM KCR’s line at any time.

In an interview to an electronic media house, he rubbished rumours about disputes between him, KTR and KCR. The star today is KCR and there is no Harish Rao without KCR, he said.

If KCR orders to do anything, I will strictly follow the order without hesitation. If he says I have to follow KTR and work under his leadership, I will say YES, Harish Rao further added. I am OK even if KCR announces KTR as CM for next elections, I am just Kattappa for KCR, Harish Rao said with a smile. So there is no need for CM KCR to search for Kattappa, but we have to wait for Baahubali 2 to see if Kattappa kills ( (politically speaking) Baahubali or both Bahubali2 and Kattappa well work together for the welfare of the people of modern Mahishmati, Telangana State

Telangana urges NGT to stop Polavaram project, says it is a threat to Bhadradri

Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao informed the Telangana Legislative Council on Monday that a complaint had been lodged with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) urging it to stop Polavaram project work.

Replying to a question of Congress member Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, Harish Rao said the State Government had requested the NGT to order an investigation as there was a threat to Bhadrachalam temple due to Polavaram back waters. “We have requested the NGT to institute an inquiry by an independent agency into our apprehensions”, the minister said. He also said the State Government also urged the NGT to stop construction work on the Polavaram project till a study was conducted on the issues raised by the Telangana Government, he said.

Replying to another question, Harish Rao clarified that the State Government did not borrow even a single rupee for the irrigation projects. “While we are sincerely striving to complete the projects at the earliest, the Congress people were creating hurdles”, he alleged. Stating that they were trying to get Telangana share in the Godavari and Krishna River waters, Harish Rao said steps were being taken to complete the projects on time.

Giving clarity on the irrigation projects, Harish said the State Government spent Rs 22,000 crores  in two-and-a-half years while the previous Congress regime had spent Rs 39,000 crores in 10 years. The TRS wrested power after achieving statehood for the sake of river waters, jobs and resources but the hostile Congress was obstructing the development work, he fumed.

Harish Rao condemned the comments as baseless that the State was caught in the web of getting loans for completing the projects. “This is not correct as we spent a lot of money on the projects”. However, he maintained that due to demonetization of big currency notes, they tried to get temporary loans for the same. The people of the State are aware of the nefarious designs of the Congress for trying to obstruct the development for the sake of political mileage, he alleged.

The TRS Government, he said, will definitely complete the Palamur and Dindi projects at any cost despite the opposition creating obstacles. He said the government would not keep quiet if Brijesh Kumar Tribunal verdict causes injustice and loss to the Telangana State. “To protect our interests of the irrigation sector, the State Government will fight with the Centre too and mount pressure on the BJP-led NDA Government”, he said.

The Irrigation Minister claimed that they could distribute waters to irrigate four lakh acres in Mahbubnagar district alone by completing the pending projects. “This gave positive results as the migrated Palamur workers returned home and cultivating their lands”, he claimed. He also attributed non-completion of the projects to the failure and partisan attitude of the previous Telugu Desam and Congress governments. –NSS

House Committee to probe land grabbing

  • Ponnala Laxmaiah in a mess
  • Harish Rao exposed former Congress minister
  • TRS forces the issue

(M Ramdas)

Hyderabad, November 26: In the Telangana Assembly on Wednesday, Minister Harish Rao made a case against former AP Congress Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah. He accused Laxmaiah of taking over 8.8 acres of SC/ST assigned lands. This act was illegal as per the relevant Act, carrying a maximum punishment of 6 months or Rs 10,000 or both. The Minister revealed that the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) remarked that Ponnala Laxmaiah was indeed guilty of the offence, having in 2005 wrongfully purchased the lands at only Rs 25,000 per acre from AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).

As such, rules do not permit the sale or purchase of assigned lands. Rao also mentioned that Laxmaiah‘s acquired lands even had poultry farms situated on them. Finally, the Assembly decided to constitute a House committee to investigate all illegally encroached- upon assigned lands in all ten districts of Telangana. TRS members, including Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao (KCR) insisted that a House Committee be appointed to go into all kinds of land grabbing in and around Hyderabad. Opposition members also demanded the same. Speaker Madhusudana Chary bowed to the collective wish of the House and announced his decision to appoint a committee.
