Warangal district boy shot dead in US
Hyderabad: While the US President Donald Trump was bent upon closing door to job-seekers from other countries and seriously planning to send away non-American employees, a youth from Warangal was gunned down by some unidentified Black Americans in California on Thursday. However, the police reported death of Vamsichand Reddy Mamidala on Saturday night after his friends complained that he had been missing for the last three days.
Vamsichand hailed from Vangapahad village under Hasanparthi mandal of Warangal Urban District. On receipt of the tragic news from the US, his parents fell down unconscious and an eerie silence enveloped the Vangapahad. Vamsichand studied BTech at Vatsalya Engineering College in Bhongir and went to the US in September 2015 to study MS in California University. He completed his master’s from a Silicon Valley University and was doing a part-time job.
On Thursday night, he was reportedly shot dead by Blacks. The killers, said to be high on drugs, stopped Vamsi’s car and one of the culprits shot the Telugu boy dead at point blank range and fled with the car. The killer also stole the victim’s wallet. The body of Vamsi was found inside the abandoned car.
Local police informed Vamsi’s sister, in Hyderabad, about the murder. Vamsi’s family urged the State government to help bring the body back. IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao, who is also in-charge of overseas affairs, spoke to the people concerned in California to bring back the body. However, in view of the sensitivity of the incident, the police have not declared it as a death, and are investigating it as a ‘missing case’.
Meanwhile, another migrant was reportedly attacked by Americans at the spot where Vamsichand was gunned down. -NSS
