War Of Words Between NGT, AOL
New Delhi: The war of words between National Green Tribunal (NGT) and Art of Living (AOL) Foundation and its spiritual leader is escalating about the Yamuna flood planes issue. The highest environmental tribunal in the country, NGT, criticised Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for alleging that the expert committee report submitted to it was biased. The committee said, “you have no sense of responsibility. Do you think you have the liberty to say whatever you want?” The NGT also felt that Sri Sri’s comments that NGT expert committee report is biased are shocking.
It also directed Art of Living and other parties to respond and file objections to the expert committee report.
Hardly within an hour after NGT’s remarked against AOL, the spiritual leader responded that no damage was caused to Yamuna and AOL has not done anything wrong. “When lies are exposed it shocks people,” said Sri Sri. He also added that those who describe AOL as irresponsible do not know what the organisation has reputation world over.
The committee headed by Union Secretary of Water Resources, Shashi Shekhar, quantifying the damage said that it would take ten years to mitigate damages caused by AOL for its Art of Living World Culture festival held last year.
The expert committee said that it would cost ₹ 13.29 crore and take ten years to mitigate the damage caused. However, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar responding to the report said that it was totally unscientific and biased.
