Vizag District Education Board Cracks Whip On Private Schools and Colleges
Vishakapatnam: As many as 104 schools have been identified as unrecognized in the district by the Visakhapatnam District Educational Office. The authorities have seized 35 of them, so far. Four squad teams have been on the task for the last couple of days.
The DEO issued notices to the unrecognized schools asking them to comply with the norms prescribed by the education department. The department has published pamphlets to create awareness among the parents about the unrecognized schools and consequences of admitting their children in their schools.
The Board of Intermediate has also identified 14 junior colleges in the district as the non-complying institutes. Of the 14 colleges, four colleges do not have the approval from BIE. One college doesn’t even have an RCC building. Another college there is no staff at all. At least three colleges have shifted to another locality without intimation and approval. One vocational college turned non-functional. Three colleges have been acquired by new managements. In one college there is an issue with the management.
The Regional Director of the BIE T. Naresh Kumar sought the parents to be cautious of unrecognized institutes before admitting their children. At a meeting held on Friday in the city for the principals of private colleges, he warned them against conducting classes beyond the specific time.
Stern action would be initiated if any of the colleges hold classes against the Board regulations, Kumar said.
Biometric attendance was mandatory for the students and the staff in each college, he informed the principals.
