Viswanath: Never Thought I Would Get Dada Saheb Phalke Award
New Delhi: “I never imagined that I would be bestowed with a great honour like Dada Saheb Phalke Award. When others were getting Padma Bhushan awards I thought why not my name was considered. There was a talk earlier that films from South India were kept aside without even seeing them. It seems things have changed.
“You find in my pictures the results of complete cooperation I get from the actors and technicians in my long journey,” said Kasinathuni Viswanath, famous director who came to Delhi to receive Phalke awards from President Pranab Mukherjee.
Talking to media persons here on Wednesday, Viswanath said there is no need for any advice for the directors of this generation. All are intelligent and hardworking, he said. Asked if he is going direct films in future, he replied that he thought he should go when the going is good.
Satish Vijnesh, who directed award winning movie Satamaanam Bhavati said he is proud win an award for his film. The audience had supported the movie. My belief that people will honour the movies which have a strong story besides songs has been proved beyond doubt with this movie, Vijnesh said.
