Vice President Venkaiah Naidu Felicitated In Raj Bhavan
Hyderabad: Telangana is a land of culture and traditions, said Vice President Venkaiah Naidu on Monday. He was speaking after his felicitation ceremony held by Telangana government at Raj Bhavan.
Naidu, who appeared pleased with the felicitation, recalled his bond with the city. Saying that Hyderabadi biryani and Haleem are world famous, he asserted that Hyderabad secured a special place in the development map of the world.
“The state did not get divided because of jealous or anger against anyone. The desire to rule their region led to the bifurcation. Though the state is bifurcated, all Telugu’s are one in the perspective of the world. Chief Ministers of both States must cooperate with each other and compete in development,” he observed.
Naidu suggested to the CMs of both the Telugu States to encourage the Telugu language by making it a part of official business and administration.
“Those who ignore their mother and their mother tongue are not human beings. I’m not against English. But I love my mother tongue Telugu. I wanted to start my official tour from Hyderabad and I’m happy that I’m able to do it,” he said.
Naidu said a nation without hunger, corruption and injustices must be built. Everyone should be made a part of the development, he said.
“Though I’m in a constitution post, I will strive for the development of both Telugu States,” he promised.
Naidu said that he has not got used to vice president’s protocol yet and that he is getting used to it.
He called upon all the political parties to work for the development of the state, putting aside their differences.
He thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao welcoming him amidst Vedic chants and blessings.
Speaking at the event, the Joint Governor of Telugu States ESL Narasimhan said that Venkaiah Naidu, who has been one amongst us, has become a vice president, and that it is a proud moment for Telugus.
Though Naidu opted to be ‘Ushapati’ (husband of Usha) instead of ‘Uparashtrapati,’ today he is both, the governor quipped. He further said that he believed Naidu wiould ably conduct the House at the Rajya Sabha.
Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and others participated in the event.
