Veteran journalist Hanumantha Rao passes away

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has expressed his grief over the demise of veteran journalist V. Hanumantha Rao on Tuesday.

In a message here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister stated Hanumantha Rao had contributed a lot to the nation by his articles. He was a role model for real journalism. It is a great loss to the media community, he said and extended his sympathies to members of the bereaved family. On behalf of the Chief Minister, CPRO to CM Jwala Narasimha Rao Vanam, PRO to CM G. Vijay Kumar placed a wreath on the body of the departed journalist.

Telangana State Press Academy chairman Allam Narayana, in a statement, said the departed journalist had worked in various newspapers like Eenadu, Economic Times, etc. in various positions. He recalled that Hanumantha Rao had established Data News Features in 1977 and got Best Journalist Award in 1988, Telugu University Pratibha Puraskaram in 1999 and bagged Kasinadhuni Nageshwara Rao Panthulu Award in 2000 and Life Achievement Award recently.

His demise is an irreparable loss to the journalism field, Narayana said  and conveyed his heart-felt condolences to the members of the bereaved family. -NSS
