Venkaiah reiterates govt stand on news content

Hyderabad:A�Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu has asserted that the Centre is committed to the freedom of media, and added that news should be disseminated keeping in mind the nationa��s security and its interests.
Inaugurating an orientation programme for Urdu Journalists, held at Salar Jung Museum in Hyderabad on Sunday, Venakaiah Naidu opined thatA�newsA�which disturbs law and order of the society should not be published or telecast.A� He said there should be credibility of the news and news should be disseminated as news only.
Stating that Urdu is a beautiful language, he regretted that Muslim brethren were distancing themselves from Urdu.A� Those who cannot love their mother tongue would not be able to love anything. He said that the media is playing a key role in society.A� He assured that the time allocated for Urdu news in Television will be increased.
Commissioner of Information and Public Relations, Naveen Mittal, said that the Telangana Government is wedded for the welfare of journalists.A� He said that health cards are being issued to journalists and Rs 5 lakh accident insurance benefit is being extended to them.A� He assured that accreditation cards would be issued to the desk journalists and those working at district and mandal level.
