Vaddera community wants Inclusion in ST, Starts Relay Strike
Hyderabad: National Vaddera Sangam (NVS), in association with Telangana Vaddera Sangam today started five days relay hunger strike, in support of their demand for inclusion of their community in ST list.
NVS President Vemula Venkatesh, speaking at the hunger strike camp at Indira Park, requested the Telangana Government to notify Vadderas as STs, provide funds for Vaddera Societies, provide mining rights to them and give 30 per cent contract works to them.
National BC Sangam President and L B Nagar MLA, R Krishnaiah said that Vaddera community people have many skills and knowledge, they constructed Buildings, Canals, Bridges, and Roads with their muscle power, they break huge boulders with hammer to make concrete. Society should recognize their services. When machinery equipments are used to do their works, Vaddera community last their occupation. These communities even today have no proper education and facing social, political, economic discrimination in the society. Voddera community main demand is inclusion in ST. In the country, 19 states have included Voddera community in STs. Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has promised to Voddera community to give ST reservation, and he has given a letter to Prime Minister, with Voddera community leaders, but now he is neglecting the matter. Krishnaiah demanded the State government to give Rs. 500 crore to Voddera Federation, 80 per cent Subsidy for Machinery equipments, provide skill development programs to them and make them good Contractors. He said they would raise these issues in the Assembly.
Telangana Telugu Desham Party State President, Ramana assured that Voddera community will be given one MP seat and three MLA seats in the next 2019 elections in the Telangana State. Kunam Venkatesh Goud, Mekala Sarangapani, Deepak Reddy, Telangana State Voddera Sangam President Vallepu Mogili, Yettari Maraiah and others participated in the meet.
