US Drops Its Largest Non-Nuclear Bomb In Afghanistan

The US Military bombed ISIS tunnels in Afghanistan, as part of its efforts to destroy the group’s “operational space.”

Washington:US dropped a non-nuclear bomb in Afghanistan, near the Pakistan border, to destroy the tunnels and caves used by the ISIS fighters at around 7:00 PM local time, as per the reports. The bomb, known as the “mother of all bombs” or MOAB, had never been used before by the US.

“The United States takes the fight against ISIS very seriously and in order to defeat the group, we must deny them the operational space, which we did,” said Sean Spicer in the White House press brief.

Spicer said that the US had targeted a system of tunnels and caves used by the ISIS to move around freely making it easier for them to target US military advisers and Afghan forces in the area.

The heavy weapon weighs nearly 22,000 pounds. It is used by carrying it in the back of a cargo plane and by attaching to a parachute. MOAB is a blast weapon, and it explodes in the air causing a widespread destruction.

The US officials say that it is a right weapon for the right target. They said they had taken all the precautionary measures to prevent any civilian casualties.

There are no comments or official statements from any of the Afghanistan or Pakistan Governments yet.
