UP boy stopped eating as “Kaka Kalam ” is no more
He would fondly call him “Kalam Kaka”. It was a dream come true foe Akash, a young boy from Lakhmipur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. He has stopped eating having heard about the sudden demise of “kaka Kalam”. He is in a deep grief, as he had great love for Kaka Kalam. The ‘Kaka Kalam’ is none other than the former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, known for having profound love for children and leading an exemplary life inspiring every Indian across the country.
The happened in the year 2009. Retired Army officer OmprakashVerma’s son Akash was suffering with liver cirrhosis and was brought to Delhi from Lakhimpur Kheri to be admitted for treatment at Army Research and Referral Hospital. His condition was serious and, the doctor had asked him that who is his idol, to which Akash had took the name of Dr. Kalam.
Dr.Naidu asked him if he was keen to meet Dr.Kalam and Akash was excited. The hospital authorities wrote to Kalam. Fond of children, kalam accepted to meet this ailing child. APJ Abdul Kalam met Akash when he was in class 6th.
In spite of a busy schedule, APJ spent considerable time and narrated several stories and gifted Akash a “get well soon” card. He held Akash’s ailing hand and assured him that he will be all well soon.
The demise of Kaka has hurt the child, unable to overcome the grief he has stopped eating. Akash’s father even went to Delhi to pay his tribute to Dr.Kalam, as the family remembers very fondly that how the former President had shown his concern towards their son. The family cherishes the memories of meeting this great man, but Akash is grief stuck.
