Ultimate Frisbee tourney on Dec. 10 and 11

Hyderabad: USHA International, one of India’s leading consumer durables companies, has announced the ‘USHA HydHAT 2016’ tournament in association with UPAI (Ultimate Players Association of India) on December 10 and 11. It is the first company to promote Ultimate Frisbee in India and this is the fourth year in a row that USHA is supporting the event.

USHA HydHAT 2016 will take place at Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad. A total of 120 participants from eight cities will be participating in the tournament.

Speaking about the event, Komal Mehra, Events Head, USHA International, said: “Ultimate is growing exponentially in India and this year we have a vision for HydHAT as ‘Learn and Grow’. In alignment to that we have coached students from Teach for India and Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad, and 20 students from these organisations will be participating with us. Teach for India is a non-profit organization striving to end the problem of educational inequality in India and provide an excellent education to all the children. USHA has been continuously supporting the coaching of kids and helping them to become better individuals by developing certain qualities such as patience, efficient interaction skills and handling pressure.”

USP of HydHAT’16 is the people participating in the HAT. In HAT tournaments, players join individually and then teams are formed by randomly taking names of the participants from a hat. There are people coming from different economic, social backgrounds, different age groups, different gender but the ultimate objective they are looking for is to learn, grow and most importantly have fun.

Earlier this year, USHA brought Ultimate Open to Ahmedabad, Mumbai (Gheun Tak), Bangalore and Surat. The tournaments witnessed huge participation from different parts of the country, helping Ultimate in gaining huge popularity in India. Recently, India sent four teams to compete at the World’s Ultimate and Guts Championship (WUGC) 2016 in different categories – Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Mixed and Masters. – NSS
