Uday Kiran-Sushmitha Wedding Cancellation: The Actual Cause
Hyderabad: What really caused the cancellation of the wedding between Sushmitha, Chiranjeevi’s daughter, and Hat-Trick Hero Uday Kiran, who has since passed away?
Sridevi, the late actor’s sister, who stays in Muscat, has finally come out with the real reason. Uday Kiran, a Filmfare Award-winning Telugu actor, had committed suicide on January 5, 2014.
It may be recalled that Megastar Chiranjeevi, at the 100-days function of his hit flick ‘Indra” in Vijayawada, had announced that his daughter, Sushmitha, will be entering into wedlock with Uday Kiran, whose first three films, Chitram, Nuvvu Nenu and Manasantha Nuvve, were successful hits. The three films had then earned the star the title of “Hat-Trick Hero”.
The 2003 engagement of Uday Kiran and Sushmitha was a grand affair. In what could only be described a melodrama, their wedding was abruptly cancelled; no reason was put out.
Later, Uday Kiran married Tamil-speaking Vishitha on October 24, 2012. Subsequently, Sushmitha wed Vishnu Prasad on March 2, 2006.
In an interview to TeluguOne, Uday Kiran’s sister, Sridevi, said the real reason for the cancellation of Uday-Sushmitha wedding was Uday Kiran himself. “Chiranjeevi Gaaru had nothing to do with it,” she clarified.
She said having interacted with Sushmitha, Uday felt that they would not be compatible with each other. After considerable deliberation, he decided against the proposed wedding. Sridevi disclosed that Uday was romancing a journalist.
Though Uday had later married Vishitha, “he was not at all happy with his marital life,” the sister revealed. She alleged that Vishitha not being in touch them at all is leading to doubts among them regarding the true reason behind Uday’s death.
