TS to give fillip to dairy development
Hyderabad: Minister for Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav has directed the officials concerned to make field level visits to villages to help dairy farmers to flourish in future. The government will make special allocations in the budget to help dairy development and ensure the milk production increased manifold, he said. His remarks came at a time when Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao sought to focus on the shortage of milk production which is not catering to the needs of the consumers.
Launching a diary and calendar of Veterinary Assistant Surgeons here on Friday, he said that the dairy development wing which is an allied department of agriculture will get all support from the government.
The minister charged that the previous governments had neglected dairy farmers and agriculture sector. Now KCR is taking all steps for their economic growth, he said. Eighty per cent of people are relying on agriculture of which 30 per cent on dairy development, Talasani said. Keeping this in view the field level officials should collect details of the farmers and families involved in dairy activities and submit a report, he said.
The government is taking steps to expand Vijaya Dairy products and giving Rs 4 a liter to dairy farmers to encourage milk production. NCDC gave Rs 400 crores for dairy development as the government gave guarantee, the minister said adding that Rs 100 crores will be spent for Pavala Vaddi scheme to help the farmers. He also claimed that Rs 101 crores had already been spent on free distribution of fish seeds in the State. -NSS
