TS Assembly session from Friday
- TRS, rivals ready their strategies for verbal duels
Hyderabad:AThe opposition, especially the Congress and Telugu Desam, are sharpening their knives to launch a no-holds-barred onslaught against the TRS Government on various issues concerning the people and the StateAduring the winter session of the Assembly beginning onAFriday.
The Business Advisory Committee, which met on Thursday morning on the Assembly premises, decided to hold the session till December 30Awith holidays onADecember 18, 24 and 25. The Assembly will again transact business for another week fromAJanuary 2, 2017.AThus it would sit for 20 working days. Though in the beginning it was decided to hold the session for a fortnight only, the opposition insisted on 20-day sitting to which Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao hadAagreed.
The Assembly, which will meet at 10 amAon Friday,Awould first take up a special debate on demonetization and the hardships being faced by the people because of cash crunch and shortage of small denomination notes.AImportant issues like the problems being faced by farmers, Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, fee reimbursement and scholarships to students, the awful condition of roads in the wake of recent rains, unabated illegal constructions under the GHMC limits, failure of the State government to fulfill its poll-eve promises like 2bhk houses to the poor are among the issues likely to dominate the session.
The Congress as well as the TDP legislature parties held their meetings on Thursday to work out their strategies to take on the TRS Government. In fact, the Central leadership of the Congress had advised its party legislators in the State to go full blast in taking on the government with regard to issues confronting the people. Likewise, the Telangana TDP, despite its miniscule strength in the Assembly, seemed bent upon to floor the government on various issues, including the move to construct a new Secretariat and the huge expenditure involved in the construction of the Pragathi Bhavan, the residence-cum-office of the Chief Minister in Begumpet.
The ruling TRS on its part is also getting ready to face the opposition onslaught with facts and figures to defeat the game plan of its adversaries. Chief Minister KCR had already directed his ministerial colleagues and also the legislators to do home work and come prepared to the House to take on the opposition on any issue. -NSS
