TRS celebrates Deeksha Divas

Hyderabad:A�To mark theA�a�?Deeksha Divasa�� that fetched statehood to Telangana followed by hunger strike by TRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao on November 29, 2009, theA� rank and file of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) celebrated the occasion, on Tuesday, under the auspices ofA� Telangana Jagruti,A� through various programmes across the state.

InA�Hyderabad, Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy shook his legs along with the artistes and TRS party men at an event at theA�IndiraA�Park. Council Chairman Swamy Goud, Government Advisor KV Ramanachary, MLA Srinivas Goud, cinema artist Suman, poet Nandini Sidha Reddy, lyricist Goreti Venkanna and a huge number of party men and supporters attended the programme.

The artistes enthralled the audience with their songs and dances. Speaking on the occasion, Narsihma Reddy stated that KCRa��s hunger protest was sacred as it madeA�the Centre to accord statehood to the region. KCRa��s dream became reality with the Deeksha Divas which got its prominence in the annals of the new state. Telangana is now a new state and is making rapid strides in every field under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, he claimed.

Though some politicalA�parties supported Telangana,A�some otherA� parties came in the way and carried out misinformation campaign against the statehood. In spite of that,A�KCR continued his struggleA�and relented only after the Centre made statehood announcement, he recalled. a�?We are now focusing on welfare, education, health, law and order and provide the best services to the peoplea�� he said. Suman said that KCRa��s hunger protest reached zenith and the Centre had to accordA�statehood. As a result, Andhra Pradesh state is also getting developed, the cine actor said adding that he is going to play a key role in a film on Telangana statehood

At Bejjanki in Karimnagar district, Finance Minister E Rajender, MLA Rasamayi Balakishan took part in the Deeksha Divas and launched a blood donation camp. At Karimnagar, Naradasu Lakhsman, ZP Chairman, E Shankar Reddy, Mahor Ramdhar Singh participated in the event. MLA Vinay Bhaskar attended the same protest at Kaloji Narayana Rao statue in Hanmakonda, and at Nizamabad, theA�TRS leaders distributed fruits to the patients in hospitals.

InA�Delhi, the TRS MPs conducted the Deeksha Divas at Telangana Bhavan and garlanded photograph of Telangana ideologue Prof Jayashankar. Recalling the struggle, KA�Keshava Rao said that KCR was a Messiah of God as he fought for statehood to Telangana in a similar way that Mahatma Gandhi took up Satyagraha. Kavitha, Captain Lakshmikanth Rao, Jithender Reddy, B Narsaiah Goud, D Srinivas, Suman and others spoke. -NSS
