TJAC Chairman Kodandaram Arrested

The employees’ leader, one of the leading lights of separate Telangana struggle, was forcibly pushed into a vehicle despite protest by the villagers.

Markoot: Telangana Joint Action Committee Chairman M Kodandaram has been detained by the Telangana Police here on Monday even as villagers tried to prevent them from doing so.

He was taken into custody when he called on farmers who are losing their lands for construction of Kondapochamma Reservoir in Markoot Mandal of Siddipet District. Kodandaram had also gone to the residence of a farmer at Bailampur village of Mulugu Mandal.

The TJAC leader was holding discussions with the affected people when the arrest came. Though villagers tried to prevent police from doing so, Kodandaram, along with Hyderabad High Court advocate Rachana Reddy, was forcibly pushed into a waiting vehicle.

The arrested leader has launched a hunger strike protesting against his “illegal detention”. TJAC has demanding his immediate release.
