Thousands Witness The Celestial Wedding At Bhadradri

On behalf of the State government, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Education Kadiam Srihari and Endowments Minister Allolla Indrakaran Reddy offered “mutyala talambralu” and silk clothes to the deities.

Hyderabad: Braving the hot sun, thousands of devotees from all parts of the country thronged the temple town of Bhadrachalam in Khammam district on Wednesday and witnessed the celestial wedding of Lord Rama with His consort Sita held at Mithila Stadium. The holy town on the banks of river Godavari was decked up for the annual event.

Vedic pundits performed the celestial wedding in Abhijit Lagnam at 12.18 pm. Ardent devotees from both the Telugu speaking states, across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and other States offered “mutyala talambralu” (mixture of pearls and rice mixed with turmeric and saffron) to the celestial couple on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami festival.

On behalf of the State government, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Education Kadiam Srihari and Endowments Minister Allolla Indrakaran Reddy offered “mutyala talambralu” and silk clothes to the deities.

On behalf of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, executive officer Sambasiva Rao presented silk clothes to the divine couple.

Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, MPs Balka Suman, Sitaram Naik, MLA Badru, Bapiraju and several others, including their family members turned up for the occasion.

Though Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao could not attend the programme, his family members –KCR’s wife Shobha, grandson Himanshu and other members of the family attended the celestial wedding. Himanshu presented silk clothes to the celestial couple Lord Rama and Sita.

Governor ESL Narasimhan will attend the Coronation (Pattabhisekham) of Lord Sri Rama on Thursday.

The TSRTC operated over 500 buses from all parts of the Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh. Besides, the South Central Railway also ran a special train between Secunderabad and Bhadrachalam to clear the rush of passengers
