TERI Shows Interest To Develop Energy Efficient Buildings in Amaravati
New Delhi: In a significant development towards construction of the World Class Capital city of Amaravati by the Andhra Pradesh State Government, to reflect the legacy, history, and commitment of people, TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute), New Delhi has evinced keen interest to associate with the State Govt. in its endeavor to develop most Energy Efficient buildings in Amaravati.
TERI, the internationally reputed research institute in the field of energy, environment and sustainable development, is keen to enter into MOU with AP Government, and help in making Amaravati a smart and Energy Efficient Global city.
The institute is going to depute a high level team to AP for discussing the modalities, said Ajay Mathur, Director General, TERI. The proposed MOU will provide several benefits to civic agencies, utility companies, and residents in realizing the dream of smart and Green living. Built with incorporation of latest Western and European technologies, the economical & environmental friendly green buildings result in around 50 per cent energy savings, without any compromise on comfort levels, he said.
While delivering the key note address today in the 8th GRIHA Summit, being organized by Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA Council) along with TERI, in New Delhi at India Habitat Centre inaugurated by Rajeev Kapoor, Secretary of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Ajay Mathur outlined the energy efficiency developments along with Sanjay Seth, CEO, GRIHA council and Saurabh Kumar, MD/ Energy Efficiency Services Ltd.
Mathur said that with his visionary approach the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Chandra Babu Naidu has become the champion of Energy Efficiency, which will go a long way in the areas of environmental protection, as well as Energy savings and overall economic development.
In this context, Ajay Jain Principal Secretary, Energy, I&I and CRDA Govt. of Andhra Pradesh who has been invited by TERI as a special guest to the 8th GRIHA Summit 2017, sent a special message read by A. Chandra Sekhara Reddy, CEO/ MD, Andhra Pradesh State Energy Efficiency Development Corporation (APSEEDCO), during the Summit.
The message is as following: “The State Govt. is putting all efforts to place Andhra Pradesh as the most energy efficient state in the Global Map by adopting latest innovations in Energy Efficiency front, with a Noble cause of environmental protection, energy security to the posterity besides ensuring substantial economic savings to the common consumers.”
The theme of the 8th GRIHA Summit being associated with World Bank, UNDP and International Finance Corporation etc., and attended by over 1000 professionals from the building and construction industry is “Transforming Habitats,” which is in line with the government’s current agenda for Smart Cities, inclusive growth, and sustainable development.
