Temperature soars in Medak
Medak, September 2: The political temperatures in Medak Lok Sabha constituency are steadily rising as the polling date in the by-elections approaches. BJP candidate Jagga Reddy (Turpu Jayaprakasha Reddy) had a meeting with TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday at NTR Bhavan in Hyderabad. They are understood to have discussed about the cooperation at the ground level between the BJP and the TDP.
There was a high profile campaign by the TDP and BJP leaders in the constituency on Tuesday with Jagga Reddy, BJP State president Kishan Reddy along with the TDP leaders Erraballi Dayakara Rao and Revanth Reddy attacking KCR and his party left, right and centre. Revanth Reddy called KCR names for going back on the election promise to make Dalit the chief minister. Jagga Reddy called T Harish Rao, Minister for Irrigation who is in charge of the TRS campaign in Medak constituency, as ‘batcha’( a lad).
Harish Rao on his part ridiculed the BJP leadership for selecting anti-Telangana leader like Jagga Reddy for Medak seat while ditching tall leaders like LK Advani and Murali Manohar Joshi. K Taraka Rama Rao, Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj, flayed the BJP for selecting a person with loose tongue like Jagga Reddy as party candidate. Jagga Reddy swore in the last elections that he would take political sanyas if he failed to register a majority of one lakh votes in Sangareddy assembly constituency. He lost the election miserably and now he entered the fray as a BJP candidate shamelessly, KTR said.
Sonia Gandhi, Congress president, had spoken to important Congress leader in Telangana and coaxed them to work unitedly to help Congress candidate Sunitha Laxma Reddy to win. Congress State president Ponnala Laxmaiah, CLP leader Jana Reddy and former minister Shabbir Ali took part in the campaign on behalf of the Congress. Former Deputy Speaker Bhatti Vikramarka questioned the TRS government about the delay in implementing the election promise of loan waiver for the farmers. The Congress leaders have been going about telling the voters to vote for Sonia Gandhi who granted statehood to Telangana despite all odds.
It is a closely fought fight with a clear edge to the TRS. But other parties have been taking the bypoll very seriously to remain in the reckoning.
