Telangana Becomes Number One In Growth In The Country
Telangana has continued its impressive record on economic front by registering 17.82 per cent growth for the fiscal ending March 31, this year. Comptroller and Auditor General released the statistics on Thursday.
With this, the three-year-old new state retains its numero uno position in the country, a record it achieved a year ago. The government declared that Telangana is the richest state in the country and this record will continue in the years to come.
Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao has expressed happiness over the state achieving 17 percent growth rate in SOR and SOTR.
“Since there is an expected rate of growth in the income, we will take forward the welfare programmes in the state with renewed vigour and confidence,” Rao said.
Telangana has registered a growth rate of 17.82 per cent in income generated through main taxes and 17.81-growth rate in all taxes, the government stated in a press release.
Through important taxes like Sales Tax, Excise, Stamps and registration, the State has 17.82 per cent growth rate, the press release stated.
The state received Rs 33,257 crore in income during 2015-16 March to February, and for the same period in 2016-17, it is Rs 39,183 crore. From the above-mentioned three taxes, Transport sector and other ways and means, in 2015-16 financial year, the state got Rs 36,130 crore, while in 2016-17 it is Rs 42,564 crore.
The state could achieve 17.81 per cent growth rate. In these two categories the State Government stood first in the country, the press release stated.
