TDP MLAs to take out rally to Raj Bhavan on Mar 11
HYDERABAD: A day after suspension of TDP MLAs, the party’s floor leader in the Assembly E. Dayakar Rao urged Speaker S. Madhusudhana Chary on Tuesday to revoke it to enable the members to attend the budget session.
In a letter to the Speaker, Mr. Dayakar Rao said TDP members would tender apology for showing disrespect to the national anthem as alleged by the TRS members on Saturday.
Meanwhile, to express their protest against the suspension, the Telugu Desam will take out a rally from Assembly premises to Raj Bhavan to complain to Governor on March 11. The staged a dharna outside the Assembly on Tuesday but were evicted and taken into custody by police.
Mr. Dayakar Rao said that though the Speaker did not ask the TDP MLAs to tender an apology, the ruling party engineered their suspension with the nefarious design of throttling their voice. “We are unable to understand whether the Speaker is conducting the House or the Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao”.
The TDLP leader said the entire House was witness to the attack by TRS members on TDP legislators in the well. “It is wrong to suspend us on the pretext of defaming the national anthem. Yet, we are ready to apologise’, he said.
He objected to the way Mr. Harish Rao was targeting the TDP and his attempt not to show the video footage of the Governor’s address to protect the TRS members. He said it was unfortunate that the contract for television coverage of the Assembly proceedings had been given to a relative of the Minister. (NSS)
