TDP MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah Arrested
HYDERABAD: Finally, the Telangana ACB sleuths today took into custody Telugu Desam legislator Sandra Venkata Veeraiah after grilling him for over seven hours in cash-for-vote scam that involved five crore rupees bribe.
According to the information, the ACB officials, on failing to get a proper reply from the MLA on several questions on the cash-for-vote scam, arrested him for further investigation. To the queries, the MLA refused to respond, including his phone call connected to Anglo-Indian MLA Elvis Stephenson and spoken by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minster Chandrababu Naidu and calls made to Mathaiah and others. Rupees 50-lakh bribe was given to the nominated MLA for his vote out of five crore rupees deal.
With only a day left to file a charge-sheet into the case, the ACB officials, who could not get the bail order quashed in the Supreme Court against the High Court order of releasing Revanth Reddy, are going ahead with their investigation and questioned Veeraiah in vain. The investigating authorities issued a fresh notice to Veeraiah for failing to respond to the first notice and absconding ever since Revanth was put behind bars.
The investigators said to have quizzed Veeraiah on the alleged phone call, money involved in the cash scam in which his colleague and Kodangal MLA Revanth Reddy was released on a conditional bail after a one-month jail. Though they are ought to present the MLA before a judge, it is unlikely to happen, as the investigation is yet to complete. (NSS)
